Reviewer Board Responsibilities

The Reviewer Board of JurisPolitica plays an essential role in upholding the journal's standards of academic excellence and integrity. Reviewers ensure that each manuscript is evaluated thoroughly, fairly, and transparently, directly contributing to the quality and credibility of the journal’s published research. Their primary responsibilities include:

Reviewers are responsible for conducting detailed evaluations of submitted manuscripts, offering comprehensive and constructive feedback. They assess each paper's scientific and methodological rigor, relevance, and clarity, providing recommendations for acceptance, revision, or rejection. To ensure a balanced and impartial evaluation, each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers.

Reviewers must adhere to the highest ethical standards, following the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This includes maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the review process, avoiding conflicts of interest, and ensuring objectivity in their evaluations. If a potential bias exists—such as recent collaborations or shared affiliations with the authors—reviewers should decline the assignment to preserve the integrity of the review process.

Timely reviews are crucial to maintaining an efficient publication process. Reviewers are expected to submit their assessments within the specified timeframe. If unable to complete a review, they should promptly inform the editorial office and, when possible, suggest qualified alternatives. Swift communication is also important for handling deadline extensions or any clarifications needed during the review process.

Reviewers are expected to provide feedback that helps authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Comments should be clear, objective, and focused on enhancing the academic content, structure, and presentation. Reviewers should avoid suggesting citations of their own work or that of their colleagues unless it genuinely contributes to the manuscript’s scholarly value.

All review activities must be conducted with strict confidentiality. Reviewers should not share or disclose any information about the manuscript under review, including its content or authorship, until it has been published. They are also responsible for ensuring that their evaluations are unbiased, based solely on the scientific and academic merits of the manuscript, free from personal or professional interests.
